The Italian Studies minor, available for students in areas such as art history, architecture, French, comparative literature, history, English, and music, is shaped through consultation with the Italian Studies graduate faculty to support students’ individual academic and professional objectives.

Prerequisites for Admission
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 2.80.
Other requirements to be completed before admission:
Students interested in the Italian Studies minor are strongly encouraged to confer with their major field advisor and director of graduate studies, and the Italian Studies director of graduate studies regarding feasibility and requirements. Proficiency in the Italian language is expected. Students’ proficiency to pursue the minor successfully will be determined by the Italian Studies director of graduate studies.

Program Requirements
Use of 4xxx courses toward program requirements is permitted under certain conditions with adviser approval.
Up to one 4-level course can be applied to the minor with the approval of the Italian Studies director of graduate studies. FRIT 5999 cannot be applied toward the minor field requirement. Coursework from the major field may not be applied to satisfy minor field requirements. The minimum GPA for minor field coursework is 3.0.
Required Coursework
Master's students complete at least 6 credits and doctoral students complete at least 12 credits from the following in consultation with the Italian Studies director of graduate studies:
