Note: The Psychology graduate program does not accept applications directly to the MA; rather, the MA is an additional or alternative credential for students admitted to the Psychology PhD program. The Psychology MA is designed to provide the flexibility to align with the curricular requirements of all seven tracks of the Psychology PhD: Clinical Science and Psychopathology Research (CSPR); Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CAB); Counseling Psychology; Industrial-Organizational Psychology (I-O); Personality, Individual Differences, and Behavior Genetics (PIB); Quantitative/Psychometric Methods (QPM); and Social Psychology. Master’s plan selection (Plan A versus Plan B) is determined by the PhD track and its requirements.

Prerequisites for Admission
Special Application Requirements:
Admission to the Psychology MA program is limited to current students in the Psychology PhD program.

Program Requirements
Plan A: Plan A requires 14 major credits, 6 credits outside the major, and 10 thesis credits. The final exam is oral.
Plan B: Plan B requires 24 major credits and 6 credits outside the major. The final exam is written and oral. A capstone project is required.
Capstone Project:The Plan B requires one to three review papers, and comprises the written component of the final examination.
This program may be completed with a minor.
Use of 4xxx courses toward program requirements is permitted under certain conditions with adviser approval.
A minimum GPA of 3.00 is required for students to remain in good standing.
Use of 4xxx courses toward program requirements requires approval of the Psychology director of graduate studies in addition to advisor.

Outside Coursework (6 credits)
Select at least 6 credits outside the major, or in another area of specialization within Psychology, in consultation with the advisor.
