Examines the arts and visual culture of the Americas, Asia and Africa. This course aims to develop a critical understanding of art forms from global cultures. We will examine a range of visual material including painting, sculpture, ceramics, and architecture, from prehistoric times to present. We will also examine the critical debates that frame the study of "non-Western" art.

This course offers a hands-on opportunity to learn both traditional and contemporary painting techniques and to develop concepts for painting, while investigating the socio-economic, historical and personal motivations behind creative expression. Students will develop their own ideas and styles through specifically designed assignments with targeted goals.

Students will design, prototype, and build 3D models using computer-aided design and manufacturing technologies.
