The astronomy minor enhances students' understanding of the formation, structure, and evolution of the universe while providing a sound foundation for professional programs in the sciences. The minor program covers a wide range of topics in general astronomy, stellar dynamics, astrophysics, cosmology, and techniques of astronomical observation and analysis.

Provides a physical and mathematical overview of the solar system, the nature and evolution of stars, galaxies, dark matter and dark energy, the large-scale structure of the Universe, the Big Bang and Inflation. Intended for students majoring in the physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics. pre-req: PHYS 1001 or 2013 or 2017
