Ojibwe Language MinorAmerican Indian Studies
College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
This minor provides focused coursework on the Ojibwe language, the indigenous language of the region. Ojibwe language study provides students with a unique understanding of Ojibwe culture and the local environment. Students are equipped to participate in a language revitalization program while enhancing their understanding of issues of cultural diversity. The minor addresses the needs of local Ojibwe communities by training Ojibwe language speakers for work in tribal schools, Ojibwe immersion programs, and schools with significant American Indian populations.
