Hispanic Studies Minor

  • Study abroad will be strongly encouraged, to be determined by student interest and focus, throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Our program will work to facilitate the achievement of University of Minnesota system-wide goals, which call for 50 percent of students to participate in a study abroad experience.
The Hispanic studies minor complements any liberal arts degree and many professional degrees, especially those in business, social services, and politics.

Most SPAN 3xxx-4xxx courses apply here. A grade of C or better in SPAN 2301 is required for upper division coursework. With advisor consent, elective courses taken abroad count toward the minor. Students who study abroad take at least two courses at the 3xxx-4xxx level beyond the experience. SPAN 4091, Independent Studies, does not apply to the minor.
