The B.A. in dance emphasizes general studies of contemporary dance in a global context. This degree prepares the student for further studies in such areas of dance as performance, choreography, dance theory, teaching, arts management, movement therapy, and kinesiology.

General Requirements
All students in baccalaureate degree programs are required to complete general University and college requirements including writing and liberal education courses. For more information about University-wide requirements, see the liberal education requirements. Required courses for the major, minor or certificate in which a student receives a D grade (with or without plus or minus) do not count toward the major, minor or certificate (including transfer courses).
Program Requirements
Students are required to complete 4 semester(s) of any second language. with a grade of C-, or better, or S, or demonstrate proficiency in the language(s) as defined by the department or college.
Students may earn a B.A. or a B.F.A. in dance, but not both. Beginning fall 2012, all incoming CLA freshman must complete the appropriate First Year Experience course sequence. Take at least 12 credits. Electives may be fulfilled by courses in dance or in fields related to dance. For example, courses in music, theatre, art history, kinesiology, cultural studies, speech communications, gender studies, as agreed upon between the student and dance adviser. At least 9 credits must be at 3xxx or above. No more than 3 credits in technique may be counted.

This is an honors sub-plan.
Students admitted to the University Honors Program (UHP) must fulfill UHP requirements, in addition to degree program requirements. Honors courses used to fulfill degree program requirements will also fulfill UHP requirements.
